Log

Sectional drawings are coming along well. Exterior drawings with dimensions and labeling are also being made on CAD this week. I am volunteering to do my presentation either tomorrow or Thursday because I will be going away to Florida all next week.

Log

Our model is now complete and drawings are being rendered. I must complete all drawings and anything else my group needs by next week because I will be absent for 4 days the following week. I am changing my alternate solutions to be the drawings I was originally assigned, not floor plans.

Things again got confused and plans are being finalized for our new plot on Heck Ave. and Asbury Ave. The location is still it Asbury Park so the same building codes apply, but now they are for the business zone. Construction of the model must be completed by Wednesday so our floor plan must be complete as soon as possible. Room sizes were researched, as well as foundation information. We have decided on concrete block wall construction with a stucco facade. Parking spaces have also been discussed. After the model is completed the final drawings will begin.

Our group did not realize the workload that was truly involved with the project and we wound up being behind on research and brainstorming. We originally did not know half of the stuff we needed to but things are now cleared up and all operations with the project are going smoothly. I have begun to choose materials based on conditions in the area, building support, and matching with the cross section. With this information it is easier to imagine the full scale of the building and especially help with building the model. Rough sketches of exterior walls with elevations for doors and windows are now being drawn.

Yesterday Kelly, Lauren, Jeremy, Jared and I went to the Centra State ER in Freehold for more ideas on layout and necessities. There we waiting for an hour and a half due to an actual medical emergency. When we finally started the tour we were able to view the various rooms and get an estimate of about how big they should really be. This helped tremendously with our floor plan design. It also really helped to see the medical equipment available in each room and how much space it actually takes away from the room.

The upcoming week the floor plan with final measurements will be completed and the model building will take place. Our new lot is still on Heck Ave. and Asbury Ave. but it is no longer in the Waterfront Redevelopment Area. It is now in the Professional Office area. Again, we are working on matching the materials and completing our drawings.

Log

This week has gone well. Yesterday, Kelly and I went to Asbury to get the building codes. Unfortunately we cannot use the original lot because of its waterfront location. We were able to chose another lot and obtain the building codes for that. This is the next step towards building our model. For our model we now have the materials and once we finish the measurements we will be able to cut out our pieces and assemble the rough model by the finished floor plan. Today we plan on going to the Centra State ER with a 4 p.m. appointment. I will be choosing materials to model on the exterior walls this week. Once materials for exterior walls and cross section have been chosen and properly support each other, and measurements match up, final drawings will begin.
